The Addiction Neuroethics Unit in collaboration with QBI, hosted the 2010 Addiction Neuroethics conference on April 9th.
The 2010 Addiction Neuroethics conference explored the ethical, social, legal and policy implications of neurobiological research in addiction . International keynote speakers were Professor July Illes (Chair, National Core for Neuroethics, University of British Columbia) and A/Professor Eric Racine (Director, Neuroethics Unit, University of Montreal). Neuroscience research is revealing how drugs act on the brain to cause addiction and why some individuals are more likely to develop an addiction than others. This research may lead to more effective treatments of addiction and revolutionise social policy.
